Dr. McBratney’s personal side
Why did you choose to become a physician?
I grew up in Centralia, a very small town in Kansas without a physician, so I never considered being a doctor. In college I majored in Biology and was hoping to become a physical therapist. My sophomore year I was encouraged to switch to PreMed and have never looked back.
What do you like to do with your free time outside of the clinic?
I enjoy being active – swimming, scuba diving, gardening (yes, organic) and traveling. I love to read and share books with the girls’ club. My husband and I have been on multiple medical mission trips. We’ve gone to the Philippines, Mexico and Guatemala. We also mentor children through Leavenworth Youth Achievement Center.
